A Call to Silence

In silence my heart saw what my eyes could not see, my heart heard what my ears could not hear and my heart spoke what my lips could not speak. In silence I was able to enter a special room in God’s heart, a quiet room, a weeping room. In this room I found Jesus holding a heart in His hands, a heart which had been broken. He was weeping over that broken heart. He was feeling the heart’s hurt and loneliness. He wept over that wounded heart longing so much to heal the wound that tore it apart, but the heart’s owner would not seek his comfort. I saw Him pick up a heart that was cold and barren and watched his tear drops just roll off that heart. I could sense Him wishing that each tear would somehow penetrate that heart, but the heart’s owner would not open it to Him to allow His tears to enter and soften his heart. As He picked up another broken heart I reached out to Him and touched His nail pierced hand and instantly I felt His sorrow and pain, the anguish felt by the heart’s owner and I too wept. All three of us wept. It was in this quiet, weeping room that I saw my own heart’s desire. It was to not have a flourishing ministry, books published, or to even experience a healing of my body, it was only to seek and search for these heart’s owners and let them know that there is a Savior weeping for them, longing to enter their wounded heart to allow His tears, His nailed pierced hands heal those wounds.

About the Author
Chaim Bentorah received his B.A. from Moody Bible Institute in Jewish Studies and his M.A. from the Denver Seminary in Old Testament and Hebrew. He is presently working on his PhD in Biblical Archeology. His doctoral dissertation is on the esoteric structure of the Hebrew Alphabet. He taught Classical Hebrew at the World Harvest Bible College for thirteen years and presently teaches Devotional Hebrew through Chaim Bentorah Ministries. I agree with another reviewer: The ideas in this book greatly exceeded my expectations. The author's loving devotion to God is palpable and was conveyed to me as a reader. Also, I learned some spiritual techniques that I had never absorbed before, like simply embracing the Presence of God in silence, as a lover embraces his beloved with no words that need to be spoken between them. I was also intrigued by the fact that the author can take a Bible passage and delve into the root of a key Hebrew word in that passage to express a more nuanced meaning. He sometimes even takes the Hebrew word and comments on the meaning of each letter, and how the meaning of each letter builds the concept of the word. Some readers may know all about this, but I have never seen it done before. In summary: I was touched by the personal sharing in this book and would highly recommend it to a contemplative reader.

Uses Hebrew words in parts of this book

To get the real meaning of the scriptures in the book of Hebrews, some words in the bible have been translated a bit too much and lost the real meaning, so this book takes some of that and uses the Hebrew words and tries to give a real translation, which is tough since not all words have exact translations so this is great, its kind of a daily study too.. I need to pick it up again, but can say for sure its awesome.

Heart changing

This book helped me remember the times I was blessed to hear God's heart for someone joining in prayer f o r them. There is a price to pay, taking time to be still to hear what is on his heart. I am sharing this book with my friends we have been talking about the need in our hearts to be in his presence in a deeper way and God used this book as a stepping stone.

I couldn't figure out if I really needed this after staring at the chart for a few minutes. Ok, it was more like three hours. Then I ate a sandwich because I was confused and not really hungry and the chart was no help with why I did that either. Why do I do stuff? Are they needs or am I just a selfish, lazy slob? It's probably a great chart if you're Sigmund freaking Freud or Bob Eubanks. Those guys know about needs. Who wants pudding?

Mike Medaglia is a cartoonist, illustrator and comics editor. He is the co-editor of dotComics, a comics anthology linking webcomics and print, and contributes to The Comix Reader. Excellent psychological thriller based on tragic historical WWII event

This is an excellent psychological thriller based on a tragic historical event that occurred during WWII, and it tells the story of an immigrant family caught up in the events of the day. The author's husband's grandfather perished in the downing of the ship in the title. Her impassioned writing brings a sense of urgency and character to what is also a valuable history lesson along the way. This is a terrific novel!
