Everyone has their own individual style... and it's always good, to be on the cutting edge of your Art... There were plenty of things I had figured out on my own, but for a beginner, this will help them... greatly !!!!!!!

Not what I expected.

The book was informative on basic things that a beginner must and should know. I picked this book over a couple others due to its great reviews, and topics that were covered. I was moderalty disappointed upon opening it, more so near the end of reading it. It repeated a lot of things thru out the entire book, a lot of the things I already did know from researching online, forums, and asking my own tattoo artist. A good section of the book is giving common advice like picking a good location when opening a shop, websites do and don't. Advertizing/Marketing topics I could care less about and had no interest in due to the fact this is just a hobby. Definitely not worth almost $100.

packaging was horrible, this beautiful book arrived pretty fast, but the corners were very bent! My new book now looks like its old because of the bent/warped edges!

His drawings and paintings are equally esteemed, but until now, the drawings have never been the subject of a monograph. All of the work in this superbly designed publication has been carefully selected by the artist's daughter, Maria; much of it has never been reproduced until now. Including 200 color plates and a moving text by the artist himself, it stands as a powerful testimony to López García's astounding achievement.
Antonio López García (born 1936) studied at the School of Art in Madrid in the early 1950s, and quickly became part of a nucleus of realist painters, such as Francisco López Hernández, Amalia Avia and Isabel Quintanilla. López García was the subject of Víctor Erice's 1992 film El Sol del Membrillo (The Quince Tree of the Sun), which closely chronicles the artist's attempts to paint a quince tree.

Antonio López García's Magic Shared

Antonio López García is one of the world's greatest artists, a painter and drawer who is less concerned with fame than he is with the truth of his creations. He is known to take extraordinary amounts of time to finish even the smallest drawing: his large paintings cover months to years of work. It is often been said that to appreciate an artist's skill and gifts first turn to the drawings. Drawings can be either preparatory sketches for a planned canvas or they can be simply captured moments in time, rendered perfectly to give not only a representation of the object but also an aura of the magic of being.

This book is a wonderful collection of many of Antonio López García's drawings - still lifes of small objects, figure studies, bare branches, flowers, toilets, sinks, - each rendered with a gentle honesty, and incomparable realism, never making the image more than it is, as López García believes everything we see has inherent perfection and beauty. The drawings are well reproduced and are accompanied by some of the artist's own commentary. He speaks as tenderly of his art as he practices it, giving reverence to the quality of light and the tranquility that he seeks to recreate in both graphite and paint. According to López García, 'you work until the whole surface has an expressive intensity equivalent to what you have before you, converted into a pictorial reality."

An excellent overview of Antonio Lopez Garcia Drawings with beautiful reproductions and a refreshingly down to earth and rare essay by Antonio Lopez himself. The price is also very reasonable for a book of this quality. A must have for those who are fans of the work of the greatest living realist.

This book makes you look twice - is it a photograph or is it really a drawing? Garcia's work is exquisite, showing his mastery of the pencil and of the line and of the subtleties of shade and shape. For anyone interested in the art and craft of drawing, I heartily recommend this volume - as well as the catalog of an exhibition in 2008 at the Boston MFA, which shows his work in color. Astounding volumes, both of them.

good but far from perfect

This book didn't really solve my problem, but it gave me a better understanding of what might have caused my claustrophobia. I expected step by step instructions to help me to get rid of my problem, but I was dragged into a history. Probably a more experienced psychologist can go deep in human mind and complete this book. I am not regret buying this book, and it is worth the time and money.

As an MRI technologist I see people with claustrophobia on a daily basis. It is a very real and debilitating condition that can completely alter the life of the afflicted. In my research I have seen very few books to help those that seek relief from it. Claustrophobia: Finding Your Way Out - Hope and Help for Those Who Fear and Avoid Confined Spaces is a welcome addition. It provides a wealth of information on this serious phobia that can affect more than 10% of the population.
With candor and compassion U.K.-based psychotherapist Andrea Perry unravels the facts and misconceptions surrounding this condition. Drawing heavily on her own personal experience as a claustrophobia sufferer Ms Perry sheds much needed light on a subject that has for too long gone under the radar. In addition to personal anecdotes Claustrophobia weaves first hand interviews and references to scientific studies in a way that is both engaging and informative.
This book, believed to be the first book of its kind on the subject, will be a valuable reference to those who suffer from claustrophobia as well as to those who, like myself, interact with claustrophobic people on a regular basis. Ms Perry gives a broad picture of the condition as well as specific ways to help heal. There are five full chapters devoted to exploring ways to deal with claustrophobia, and phobias in general. As one who has overcome claustrophobia she offers hope to those currently struggling with the condition and advice for those who can help claustrophobics, including friends and family, architects and designers, medical staff, etc. Ms Perry also gives a very convincing reasoning as to why this condition is not entirely irrational as many people have been led to believe.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to know more about claustrophobia and how to manage it. It is a tremendous resource that would make a valuable addition to every physician office that orders an MRI. I will be urging my fellow technologists to read this insightful book.

Unique contribution to anxiety and phobia literature, but offers same solutions as most self-help books

This may be the first book written by and for sufferers of claustrophobia.
Most other anxiety self-help books devote a few pages to this phobic experience and are written by clinical observers with second-person summaries and generically as just as any other phobia and anxiety disorder.
However, after the author vividly describes the experience that triggered her phobia, she does not offer the same personal awareness and articulation of her confrontation and tolerance of this condition.
Instead, the book offers the standard array of approaches that can be found in any anxiety self-help book.

Over ten chapters, the authors examine the cultural lifestyles of indigenous communities through new architecture, using 56 projects as case studies. Essential Reading

This book is exceptional; and I highly recommend it. It is 'the' standard textbook on Roman Law, and the most comprehensive and detailed work on the subject available in English. The source referencing and footnotes make this an excellent starting point for any further research you may wish to do on the subject. A working knowledge of Latin may be helpful, but translations are provided for the most part.

It may be desirable to use this book in conjunction with a more contemporary textbook (such as Borowski & du Plessis) but only if one needs to add a layer of modern scholarship to this great work. A must buy!
