Fantastic Guide...

For anyone who is just starting out OR for those of us who feel stuck or stagnant in our careers and need a "work smarter" approach, this is a fantastic step by step guide. The author leaves nothing to chance. He keeps it simple and easy to follow. Very grateful for his knowledge and for taking the time to share it with us!

Awesome Book

Awesome Book by Mr. Brown. Concise, informative, and his real world experience shines through. If you are even toying with the idea of starting to work as a player (sideman) I would recommend this book as it gives you all the facts without the filler.

Good guide

I ordered this book as a working sideman and I have to say that much of the information Mr Brown gives in this book is good stuff. I ran into some marketing ideas I have never heard before and learned a thing or two.
My experience as a bassist who doubles on upright and electric is a little different from Mr Browns. I think that doubling can increase a bassists income and opens up more opportunities in classical ensembles, string sections for large acts, and more traditional groups such as bebop, bluegrass, folk, and dixieland bands. I also realize that not all young electric players want to take the time to learn upright bass. Mr Brown covers his topic well, he just doesn't cover the possibilities available if one doubles. Just my slant on this I suppose. No fault of Mr Browns for not including it.
Overall an excellent book. I learned a few things and I have been in the business a while. Mr Brown has some very useful ideas in this book that any musician could use.
